A phytochemical invesitgation of the ether soluble portion of alcoholic extract of Rumex tingiranus L. has resulted in the Isolation of five anthraquinone pigments; chrysophanol, physcion, emodin , aloe - emodin and chrysophanein. In addition, three flavonoids namely, apigenin, luteolin and catechin were also isolated from the extract. Identification of these compounds were performed through their physical and spectral data as well as comparison with reference samples. This is the first report for the isolation of all these compounds from this plant. The anti-bacterial activity of the compounds isolated in sufficient amounts was carried out.
